Bay City Rollers Heat It Up on the Road!

Tam and David were the only ones with a driving license, so David was often the designated driver. In the summer of 1969, they decided to drive to Spain for a holiday and fitted the transit van with a roof rack and loaded all the provisions aboard. The band was completely self sufficient and cooked and slept off road. All went well until Le Mons. The temperature and weight was too much for the van which kept overheating. So they turned back and headed home, but did head off again the next year and made it to Spain. The band spent a lot of time horseback riding in the Pentland hills outside of Edinburgh and did the same while in Spain. A memorable journey and great fun!
